Coach Brandon has an aquatics career that has spanned almost 30 years as both an athlete and coach. He swam for Marcus High School and graduated from Marcus High School in 1999. Brandon's aquatics career continued at Fullerton College in Fullerton, CA as a sprint freestyler, breaststroker and water polo player.
Brandon met his wife, Amber, also a long time swimmer and water polo player, at Fullerton their freshman year. They moved back to Texas in 2003 and have been residents of Highland Village since 2007 with their four children.
Brandon is Head Swim Coach and Head Water Polo Coach for Marcus High School, as well as the Club Administrator for Thunder Water Polo Club. All three of his sons competed for Marcus in Swimming and Water Polo and his Daughter now competes for Marcus Swim and Water Polo as a Sophomore.
Coach Conrad has been studying, swimming, teaching SCUBA or competing in water almost since he was born. He began swimming at 5 years old and swam competitively on local teams, as part of Spring Branch YMCA AAU High School and into college. In Spring Woods High School, he was able to work under exceptional coaches and succeeded in competing at the State Championships in the 400 Freestyle relay twice.
After entering college, he became a PADI Master Diver Trainer while studying at Stephen F. Austin as an undergrad and continuing after graduation to teach SCUBA for about 30 years as a side job. After graduating with his BS from SFA, he continued his studies at university obtaining a master’s degree in Environmental Science. Shortly after Graduating with his MS, he married his fiancé Kim Henderson and never looked back. She became his partner, and bride and best friend for 35 years running. He began his career as an Environmental Scientist, starting at Texas Utilities Electric’s Martin Lake Steam Electric Station. For the subsequent 30 years Conrad held Environmental roles working primarily for Tech industry including Central and Southwest Utilities, Nortel, Ionex, Birch Telecom, Touchstone, Nokia, and Microsoft. During his employment with Nortel, the company underwrote his studies at SMU in Dallas where he obtained an MBA in International Business.
After graduation he continued to seek opportunities in the field of sustainability and environment. In addition, he also obtained roles in three start-up companies working as an IT Director, a Chief Operating Officer, and as Director of Business Integration. These were large departures from his classical training ,but gave him the confidence that given the opportunity to get through the front door one can do anything. While working for Touchstone he and his wife Kim were blessed with a long-anticipated pregnancy and the birth of their son Cole Conrad who became a swimmer at four years old and ultimately played water polo and swam for Coach Dion.
After Microsoft, Conrad took a lead from his wife and again returned to school a fourth time to acquire a Composite Science Teaching Certification. After this he began coaching Swimming and Diving at Coppell ISD as well as teaching Physics and Aquatic Science. Most recently Conrad accepted a position with Marcus High School to science (Astronomy and Human Anatomy and Physiology and coaching swimming and water polo teams as Assistant to Head Coach Brandon Dion.
Coach McGuire attended The College of Mount Saint Vincent and Manhattan College and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education. While attending College received the Departmental Award for Physical Education majors, swam for the college and played on both the volleyball and softball teams. Dove for a club team while in college. Received Masters of Science in Exercise Physiology from Queens College. In 2010 received the Distinguished Service Award from the Physical Education and Human Performance Department of Manhattan College for contributions to the Physical Education profession.
After teaching 2 years in the Yonkers School District she moved to San Fransico and taught Special Needs Students at the San Francisco Recreation Center for the Handicapped.
She has coached Marcus along with the remaining LISD High Schools in Diving for the past 19 years. In this time, she has produced eight Diving All Americans including five Back-to-Back All Americans, twelve All State divers. During this period three Marcus divers have advanced to the State Meet with one Marcus diver placing 3rd in the State.
Coach has lived in Texas for twenty years along with husband of thirty one years and her three adult children.
